Shooting Star Adventure in UAE

Perseids In the Desert Sky

We were so lucky to head out on an adventure in the desert last night and staying until the early hours watching the Perseids Meteor Shower with Bruce the Jeep.  Finding a dead-end desert road leading up a small hill, we camped up to watch exciting shower of meteorites overhead.

The Perseids meteors are made of tiny space debris from the comet Swift-Tuttle. The meteor shower is named after the constellation “Perseus” where the direction from which the shower seems to appear in the sky lies in the same direction as Perseus.

The Perseids are widely sought after by astronomers and stargazers because most years at its peak you can see 60 to 100 meteors in an hour from a dark place!

Though we popped the iKamper, we lay on the sand wide eyed in awe of the magnificence of the universe and waiting for the next flash across the sky.
